Thoughts on Leadership

What does it mean to be a “leader?” Although thousands of individuals from children to world leaders have attempted to define the term, being a leader is merely the ability to influence towards a greater social good. It is the process of making a positive difference through your ideas, approach and very presence. To be an effective leader, therefore, you must begin by asking, “Who shall I serve?”

Every day you have the opportunity to serve those you pass on the street, sit across from at the staff meeting, or have interacted with in the past. Pause right now and take a moment to identify whom you want to serve today. Who needs the very best you now not later? Where can your talents best be used in the next few hours? What can you contribute someone else can’t or won’t as the hours pass today?
